Founded in 1985, the School of Geography and Tourism of Qufu Normal University is located in Rizhao, a lovely coastal city. The school currently employs 89 people, including 16 professors, 22 associate professors, and 66 doctors. There are more than 1,500 undergraduates and about 400 graduate students enrolled.



The School of Geography and Tourism is made up of 6 academic departments: Geographical Science, Resources and Environment, Urban-Rural Planning, Tourism Management, Land Management, and Geographic Information Science. It also has the Center for Land Studies and the Center for Tourism Development & Planning Studies. The school is properly equipped with a multifunctional laboratory for digital geology and geomorphology, astronomy, hydrology & meteorology, Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS), tourism training, land planning, spatial planning, and geographic virtual simulation.



Currently, the school offers three bachelors’ degree majors: Geography (normal category), Tourism Management, and Land Resources Management. Geography is a provincial level specialty, a Shandong province application-oriented key specialty, and a national first-class specialty construction point. The school’s first-level discipline authorization is a master’s degree in geography. Considerably, master of education, master of professional technology education, and master of tourism management are the three professional master’s degree authorizations. Human Geography represent a key discipline in Shandong Province.

Many of the outstanding talentswho have come out of theSchool of Geography and Tourism have gone onbecoming the backbones or teaching and research leaders in their respective working units.The school has made significant achievements in a number of fields, including land utilization, tourism planning, and ecological construction. It has developed discipline advantages in environmental change and restoration, urban and regional development, land resources utilization and management, tourism resources protection and planning, RS, and GIS applications.
